behind the twisted and knotted mess
of sleek coiled snake attached at base unit
handset in hand of hand that pulls back
when the ringer rings and the base comes tugging along
...like a slinky
pulling everything in it's path
to it's watery grave on the floor below
- who was that man who had the notion
I'd like to shake his hand
For he has gotten my goat...
on more than one occasion
with the same cliched and maddening slapstick routine
